City of Bristol College is on the brink of significant transformation and success. A large further and higher education college offering a wide range of academic and vocational programmes across four main centres, we are committed to creating lifetime opportunities across our communities, while enhancing local prosperity. We are based at the heart of a vibrant, economically robust city which prioritises education and skills through its visionary Learning City strategy.
Following a challenging period for the college, we are currently on a positive turnaround journey with significant successes already achieved. We have recently established an exciting partnership with the University of the West of England, creating a dual branded university centre in South Bristol which will positively impact progression and widen participation in higher education. Our curriculum strategy is employer-focused and well aligned to local economic priorities, and we have developed ground-breaking work-based learning programmes with large key employers. Our impressive campuses, which have benefitted from significant investment over the last ten years, will be further enhanced by a new £9m advanced construction skills centre that we are currently developing at South Bristol Skills Academy.
We are on a positive journey of quality improvement, with robust measures in place to deliver good outcomes and clear progress seen in recent monitoring visits. Moreover, our financial health has stabilised, and our annual cash generation and surplus are among the best in the FE sector.
We are seeking a new Principal and Chief Executive who will play a strategic role in positioning the college as the jewel in the crown of our dynamic city. Our new leader will raise the college’s external profile with key stakeholders across the city and beyond, developing strong relationships with business, city and community partners and ensuring that we maximise opportunities for development and growth. Key to success will be ensuring ongoing high quality provision and financial sustainability, while developing and motivating our talented senior leadership team and inspiring our workforce.
We are seeking a strategic individual with a successful track record of relevant senior leadership who will harness talent across the college to ensure the best outcomes. You will have the credibility and charisma to create a highly visible profile externally and to act as an impactful ambassador for the college. A visionary individual with strong emotional intelligence, you will combine your passion for ongoing excellence and continuous quality improvement with solid financial acumen to secure the college’s future. A strong commitment to our values and improving opportunity, inclusivity and economic prosperity in Bristol is also of key importance.
