This exciting project will support young people (16-19 years old) to develop employability skills and prepare them for the world of work as part of a full-time study programme. Working as part of the Lifeskills teaching team, you will work alongside the work experience co-ordinator, local employers and course tutors to deliver meaningful, fulfilling work experience placements for our foundation level learners.
The role is varied and could include:
- Using mentoring and coaching skills to enable learners to be supported into local work experience placements.
- Preparing learners for the world of work including community projects, work experience and monitoring on placement.
- Working with learners and the teaching team to monitor and track the success of work experience placements.
This right candidate will support colleagues to build the confidence and motivation of the students as well as giving them the essential skills employers are looking for.
You will have experience of working with young people with little or no experience of work or have substantial barriers to achieving and sustaining employment.
You will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written and be able to create and maintain monitoring systems.
Knowledge of Information Advice and Guidance and working with employers would be an advantage.
Experience of working with challenging groups is desirable.
