Head of Communications and Marketing
Hereford College of Arts (HCA) is a dedicated arts college with a specialist focus on art, media, design, popular music and performing arts. Our dynamic creative community offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees alongside a range of further education and short course programmes. Located in Hereford, we enjoy all the advantages of a compact, historic city set in the midst of exceptional countryside, an area rich in cultural activity, enterprise, and innovation. The College is proud of its history and track-record but now has an ambitious strategy to grow in scale and to develop four pillars of distinction around curriculum, community, creative spaces and places, and student careers and enterprise to become a truly exceptional centre for modern creative education – rooted in place, connected to the world. At this exciting time we are looking for a new Head of Communications and Marketing to join the senior leadership team (SLT) and help achieve our vision. Reporting directly to the Principal and Chief Executive, you will work closely with other members of the SLT as well as with staff across the College.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To lead on the development and implementation of internal and external marketing and communications strategy and operations to meet College objectives, including deepening student and staff engagement, increasing student recruitment and building HCA’s profile and reputation. You will also lead the development and management of our short course provision, which we are keen to expand. As a member of the senior management team you will further support the delivery of HCA’s new strategy by contributing to decision-making across a wide range of leadership and management areas.
HCA recently developed a new visual identity based on commissioned brand positioning work. This September we also launched a new website. As our current Head of Communications moves on we are looking for someone excited to build on these foundations albeit with fresh ideas and perspectives.
You will lead a small team that delivers communications, marketing and other recruitment activities, front of house, plus a wide range of events and short course operations.
We are looking for an ambitious candidate with a real passion to help lead the College through a time of intense development. With a track record of achievement in communications and marketing, you will be able to demonstrate an ability ‘to wear multiple hats’ and an appetite for working both strategically and at the front end of delivery.
