English and Maths Coordinator
About the role:
An exciting opportunity has become available working as part of the English and maths team at City and Islington College based at the Centre for Health, Social and Childcare. You will be responsible for providing high quality and effective curriculum coordination for English and maths delivery within the centre.
To be successful in this role you will need to hold a degree or equivalent in either Maths or English related subject and a recognised teaching qualification. Excellent knowledge of GCSE English/maths and Functional Skills specifications is essential. Previous curriculum coordination or team leading experience will be advantageous to this role.
You will take responsibility for interventions in order to establish outstanding success on GCSE and Functional Skills that enables learners to progress.
You will be required to work with the Head of School in the Centre to ensure the effective planning, delivery, assessment and tracking of Functional Skills and GCSE's. To participate to the the development, quality and organisation of the English & Maths Department, in particular: professional development of teaching and support staff; curriculum development, monitoring and reporting student performance; promoting and monitoring Equal Opportunities for students and staff.
You will teach, assess and administer assigned classes, groups and courses.
You will also maintain up to date knowledge of teaching and learning approaches in English and maths, in particular, utilising digital technologies to engage learners.
