Progression Tutor

Progression Tutor – 37 hours per week – 36 weeks of the year-  West Suffolk College –Bury St Edmunds –Permanent – Pro- Rata Salary - £16,227.23 - £17,294.44 -  (Full-time salary range £20,870.64 – £22,243.23)

Are you passionate about inspiring young people to progress and be the best they can be?

As a Progression Tutor, you will be working with young people aged 16-18 and will, therefore, need to be resilient and adaptable in your approach.

The successful candidate will deliver PSHE and careers sessions related to the student’s vocational areas.

You will have the desire to create a culture of learning, where students are happy, enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious. Ensuring that the classroom is a positive and stimulating learning environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Facilitate a programme tailored to the subject and industry requirements of the students linked with the curriculum plan.
  • Produce relevant materials to assist with the delivery of the Programme
  • Deliver specific group sessions
  • Identify and arrange for employers to deliver specialist talks to students

Required qualifications, skills and experience

  • Level 2 in Literacy, Numeracy and IT.
  • Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector (PTTLS) or equivalent (desirable)
  • A good communicator at all levels
  • Able to give presentations to large groups of people, for example, students or colleague professionals
  • Be able to establish excellent working relationships with staff and external stakeholders at all levels
