A day in the life of…..
Eastleigh College is looking for a Lecturer in Science to teach predominantly on the Level 3 chemistry and biology courses. The science learning area offers programmes for both full time and part time students who are studying on the, Access to HE courses science modules as well as Applied Science, medical and forensic pathways. You will be required to teach modules such as Access Chemistry, Biology, Human Physiology and Forensics.
You as the Lecturer in Science will primarily teach 18+ students taking ACCESS science modules. This role will require excellent communication and organisational skills coupled with a strong commitment to develop the potential of all learners. You will need to plan the lesson and mark their work and be able to liaise with students for their progress reviews. You will need to manage the Science modules by liaising with the awarding body and the course manager. You will be required to attend open events at the college and well as assist with UCAS applications.
As a Lecturer in Science you will ideally hold a degree in chemistry or biology or a related subject. Experience of teaching across the range of science disciplines would be an advantage as would holding a teaching qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE), however full training can be offered to achieve qualified teacher status.
A Degree in Chemistry or Biology
Level 2 or Equivalent in English and Maths
Ideally you will hold a teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent), or be willing to work towards either of these qualifications.
