37 hours per week

52 weeks per annum,

Start date: November 2020

Abingdon and Witney College’s new apprenticeship training centre, specialising in the construction industry, will open in Bicester early next year. The state-of-the-art facility will provide exciting opportunities for apprentices to train for the fast-growing property maintenance sector, alongside traditional, professional trades in plumbing, electrical installation, carpentry and joinery.

The first cohort of apprentices will start in February 2021. The centre will house the type of industry-standard equipment that apprentices will find in the workplace, including a professional gas centre, electrical training bays for wiring regulation training and a large carpentry workshop.

We are looking for an inspirational individual with excellent interpersonal skills to deliver inspirational teaching and learning as part of our team at the Bicester Construction Skills Centre.

This is a new curriculum area where you will be course leading and teaching on electrical apprenticeship and commercial rate programmes. The successful candidate should also have the ability to deliver functional skills to students.

You should be a skilled communicator, have excellent organisational skills and practical experience. In order to be successful for this role, it is essential that you possess a relevant professional qualification together with suitable industry experience.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working within the plumbing/gas industry.  Experience of assessing and delivering NVQ and apprenticeship programmes and the ACS suite of gas training is essential. Successful candidates must hold an Assessor Award qualification, a Level 3 qualification in plumbing/gas and an internal verifier award. Being qualified to teach F-GAS courses would be desirable. Consideration may be given to an outstanding candidate who can inspire young people but who does not hold any teaching qualifications.

It would be desirable but not essential if you had experience of other construction trades/services.

You will maintain the highest standards of health and safety, using innovation within your teaching and assessing to deliver both practical and theory sessions to apprentices and adult learners.

This is a fantastic opportunity to pass on your specialist skills to the next generation of industry professionals.
