Practical Instructor in Horticulture

Capel Manor College is the only College in London that aims to deliver outstanding and inspirational and environmental land-based learning opportunities across the Greater London region. Our most recent Ofsted report rated the College “good” with good effectiveness of leadership and management. Aspiring to excellence, the College has an excellent reputation for quality, is financially strong and has continuous growth in student numbers. Fundamental to the College’s forward-thinking strategy is support for the environment and food supply in Greater London and the southeast

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced horticulturist, with a passion for training and inspiring young people. As a Resource Technician/Practical Instructor at our Enfield campus, you will support the teaching staff and students across all courses within the College’s specialist horticulture and landscaping programmes, including maintaining practical equipment and gardens/grounds.

The successful candidate will be working within a team of other practical instructors as well as with teaching colleagues from within the School and the gardening team on campus. They will help with the successful delivery of a variety of teaching and learning programmes, coordinating the use of resources, equipment and materials within the College estates and across all courses.

The ideal candidate will have a range of industry skills, including plant propagation, and the ability to operate and maintain horticultural machinery and some experience working in the training/education sector. A Level 2 qualification in horticulture is required, and a PA1/PA6 Certificate is desirable. The successful applicant will be supported to undertake teaching and assessing qualifications.

What’s in it for you?

We offer the opportunity to help develop your skills and knowledge in a friendly team environment, plus a range of benefits including a career average pension scheme (LGPS), employee assistance programme and full access to Capel Gardens.
