Lecturer/Teacher Computer Science/ IT – Alton Campus

Grade 5: £29,616.58- £35,995.07 per annum, pro rata (depending upon experience and qualifications)

Have you considered getting in to teaching to share your skills and knowledge with our students?

HSDC-Alton is seeking to appoint two IT / Computer Science teachers with a strong commitment to student success to teach our developing and expanding Computing and IT provision on the Alton campus. 

There are two permanent positions available, full or part-time beginning 2nd November 2020. Successful candidates will teach Level 3 BTEC Information Technology and/or Computer Science A Level.  We are excited to launch the Digital T Level in Production, Design & Development as well as a new Higher National course in Cloud Computing for September 2021.  

T Levels are new, two-year, technical study programmes, designed with employers to give young people the skills that industry needs. T Levels will provide a mixture of:

  • technical knowledge and skills specific to their chosen industry or occupation
  • an industry placement of at least 45 days in their chosen industry or occupation
  • relevant maths, English and digital skills.

In addition to good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team, applicants should have a recognised Computing/IT qualification / Honours degree. Successful applicants will teach on relevant specialist areas including networking, interface design, programming, e-commerce, multi-media, animation, systems analysis and design and system security including cybersecurity.

Support package for you

As part of the Taking Teaching Further programme, HSDC is able to offer you:

  • Fully funded level 5 initial teacher training qualification
  • Intensive teaching support including team teaching and work shadowing
  • A reduced teaching workload
  • A commitment of support for the programme throughout its delivery from colleagues and management

To be eligible to apply for this role and receive the support package, you must:

  • Be an industry professional who has worked for a minimum of three years in the Digital industry and is still working or have been within the last 18 months
  • Not yet hold a substantive teaching qualification
  • Not already be working for HSDC
