Salary: £26,303 to £28,048 depending on experience

An excellent opportunity has become available for an MIS Development Senior Data Analyst to join our expanding team here at West Suffolk College. As part of this role you will be responsible for supporting the administration of the college’s management information systems and the preparation of management information reports.  Development and management of live KPI’s and the reports centre. Assist the MIS Development Team Leader in the development of an information culture within the College.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing a wide range of cross college reports from a number of core databases utilising Microsoft SQL Server, Reporting Services, PowerBI, Dynistics and SharePoint technologies
  • Support the maintenance of the College’s, management information (MI) systems to include user access, systems security and data protection.
  • Responsible for maintaining and developing cross college reporting from a number of core systems to support the day-to-day management.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of live KPIs systems, such as Dynistics and keep individual systems under review to ensure they meet the requirements of the College.
  • Further develop and review the Reports Centre creating dynamic reporting solutions that meet the requirements of the College.
  • Maintain and support online elements of systems such as Capita and EBS systems, including online services and online services for organisations
  • Support the individual software requirements of the College such as ProAchieve, ProGeneral, ProObserver, ProMonitor and ProPerformance.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring and reviewing systems and procedures for obtaining information and reports from the student database for individual college users.
  • Assist in ensuring the validity of the data held on the MI system.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the other development staff to develop integrated systems to facilitate a culture that enables more effective administration and management of the College.
  • Assist in assessing, devising and delivering training needs for staff using MI systems.
  • Keep updated with IT developments, specifically relating to the student database and related systems and advice on the suitability of new approaches. 
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as required by the Line Manager.

Required qualifications, skills and experience

  • Good standard of general education, ideally up to degree level or equivalent.
  • Level 3 qualification or above in Business Administration/IT
  • Significant experience of database administration on a large relational database
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional, especially Access
  • Good understanding of the use of SQL for data extraction and manipulation and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Proven application of Systems Analysis and design
  • Good accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • A willingness to undergo any further training or development as, or when, appropriate.
