Job Title:              Plumbing & Gas Trainer/Assessor

Hours:                  18.5 Hours Per Week - 52 Weeks Per Year

Contract:             Permanent

You will need to be able to transfer your passion for Plumbing/Gas to a group of learners to national standards enabling them to achieve qualifications in Level 3 Plumbing/Gas and to complete their Apprenticeships in a timely manner. Set work, assess and grade submissions in line with awarding body criteria and requirements. Own your course and look for opportunities to develop the learning experience and introduce additional learning interventions.

 

  • You will have relevant industry qualifications to include minimum of L3 Plumbing and Heating and be Gas Safe Registered
  • You must hold a L3 Assessor Award
  • No teaching qualification is required but you must be willing to work towards and gain relevant teaching qualifications which will be sponsored and supported by the college.
  • Experience of teaching preferably in Plumbing/Gas would be an advantage but not essential. 
  • Be flexible and self-motivated with a dedication to student achievement and quality.

 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The overall purpose of the role is to provide professional teaching, learning and assessment support to apprentices in line with awarding and funding body requirements.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for management and achievement of a caseload of Apprentices following the Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician L3 Standard Apprenticeship.
Duties include providing classroom and work-based teaching, design and delivery of effective learning sessions, visiting apprentices in their place of work and conducting thorough and effective learner reviews. Engagement with Employers is crucial and supporting the Apprentice and their workplace mentor will be a key responsibility.

  • Evidence of Gas and Plumbing Qualifications
  • Evidence of Assessor Qualification
  • Evidence of recent industry experience (commitment to ongoing professional updating and development)
  • Knowledge of the industry
  • Flexible approach
  • Ability to plan and organize own work
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
  • Enthusiasm and optimism

This post will require travel within the local area and on occasions across the country to other College sites and employer’s offices. (Assessor roles)
