Lecturers - Occasional Workers

Milton Keynes College are looking for flexible and professional teachers to join our developing pool of Occasional Workers to support the provision to our students across a variety of subject areas. The cover needs could range from single lessons up to full days/weeks, and could be needed at short notice – so a person who is able to offer flexible hours is essential.

A teaching qualification would be desirable, however those willing to work towards one who hold supporting subject specialism or industry experience would also be considered. If you are a passionate person with the capacity to become a great teacher we can provide the training to help you achieve your full potential, just as we expect to be able to help our students achieve theirs.  

Milton Keynes College are currently looking for individuals with one or more of the below skillsets to support their curriculum delivery - If you hold qualifications or expertise in other subject areas this could give you the opportunity for more cover hours.

  • Art & Media – Art & Design, Fashion, Photography, Performing Arts, Music, Media, Gaming, Graphics
  • Construction – Planning, Surveying, Bricklaying, Painting & Decorating, Carpentry, Electrical Installation
  • Engineering
  • Digital Technologies - Computer Science, Data, Security, Networking, Software development
  • English
  • Maths
  • Health & Social Care

Most delivery is up to Level 3, Functional Skills and GCSE level are offered in Maths and English. There are also opportunities to study up to HNC level in some subject areas along with Access to Higher Education options.

As a successful candidate you will have: 

  • Relevant degree or equivalent vocational qualification in subject area
  • Full or part teaching qualification or willing to work towards
  • Flexibility to work variable hours, sometimes at short notice
  • Knowledge of current curriculum and accreditation within FE and subject area/s
  • Creative and flexible
  • Experience of identifying, developing and sharing innovative and creative teaching resources

Milton Keynes College is proud to be an open and inclusive general Further Education College welcoming learners of all levels and delivering an exceptional educational experience. The College offers a broad range of qualifications with more than 3,000 16 – 18-year-old full-time students studying vocational courses, apprenticeships and Higher Education at our campuses in Milton Keynes. In addition, the College delivers employability and skills training programmes to 3,000 people in local community learning centres. For nearly 30 years, we have worked with offenders in both custody, and the wider community and currently work with 19 prisons across England; this includes 13 prisons, which make up the Long Term High Security Estate, and 6 category B, C & D men’s prisons.
