Do you want to work somewhere that no two days are the same?
Where you make a difference to people`s lives?
...And one that values yours?
Yes? Work for us - The WEA. Create real change, and be a part of something bigger.
We have an exciting role for a tutor who can offer a wide range of courses based around cookery, food and nutrition.
We are looking for an experienced tutor to deliver Cookery, Food and Nutrition courses on a sessional basis i.e. short term contracts for a few, variable hours per week. This could include teaching vulnerable adults, in community settings in the Selby/Hull/York area.
We would be interested in hearing from qualified tutors, who can teach Cookery, Food, Nutrition and other related subjects. We would particularly like to hear from you if you have an interest in green and/or sustainable topics. If you have a similar course idea or subject area please get in contact as we are always looking to diversify our programme.
As one of our tutors, you`ll be so much more than just a teacher. Forming true partnerships with your students, you`ll go the extra mile to build their confidence, develop their knowledge and skills, and empower them to define and achieve their life goals. In short, you will be a catalyst for profound change, and you`ll enjoy considerable autonomy as you design, plan, resource and prepare your own course materials, identify and respond to students` needs, and continually assess the effectiveness of your approach.
With a level 3 or above teaching qualification, you will be an experienced and capable tutor. You will need to be confident with online delivery using Zoom, and familiar with virtual learning environments such as Canvas, as well as face to face in a classroom environment.
You will be keen to engage with people from a range of disadvantaged backgrounds and rekindle their love of learning, and you will share our passion for egalitarianism and empowerment. Because we serve people from all walks of life, we are keen to develop a diverse workforce and particularly welcome applications from members of minority groups.
