Finance Director

Plumpton College is the leader of land and environment education in the Southeast, renowned for our outstanding cutting-edge practice and ability to align delivery to meet the needs of local and national employers. With a 50% growth in income and 30% growth in study programmes student numbers in the last five years, together with 200% growth in our ‘LandPro’ business to business offer and a 400% growth in apprenticeship provision, the organisation has made great progress in achieving its ambitious future vision.

The College has recently completed a £22m capital investment programme into commercial enterprises which includes a new AgriFood Business hub, One Garden Brighton destination garden and centre of horticulture excellence, and a commercial winery producing up to 40,000 bottles of wine a year. The College is currently building a new Veterinary and Animal Science Institute of Technology opening in January 2025.

This investment has of course been enabled by our strong financial health and highly effective financial leadership.

We are now looking for an exceptional finance professional with outstanding leadership skills and a drive for strong performance and quality to play a pivotal role in the next exciting stages of our development as an educational leader, business and brand. There has never been a more important time for our college in responding to meet the future needs of our workforce locally, regionally and nationally.

The postholder will lead our Finance team, MIS function, award winning Business Services team and have oversight of the One Garden Brighton commercial enterprise. With sound knowledge of financial legislation and accounting practices you will have recent proven experience of developing and implementing financial strategy, the ability to take people with you, and strong commercial acumen.

This diverse role will attract a finance professional with a chartered accounting qualification. You will have proven experience in a senior role, preferably within the public or wider not for profit sector.

If this is an opportunity that you would like to explore then we would love to hear from you.
