£49,920 - £54,549 - Depending on experience & qualifications

Based across the St Albans campus and Welwyn Garden City Campus

Working in partnership with the Director of Faculty as the Head of Maths and English, you will lead a team of curriculum team managers, team leaders, and staff to manage the directorate in an open and supportive manner. You will ensure that staff adhere to College policies and procedures and work as part of the Strategic Leadership and Senior Management Team ensuring all elements of the College work together effectively to deliver a high quality and responsive curriculum offer.

The successful candidate will support and assist departmental staff to ensure that they understand, and are actively implementing, key aspects of the College's professional standards and attendance policies; including sanctions, incentives and rewards. In addition, you will support and assist departmental staff to correctly administer all aspects of the employee lifecycle including probationary reviews, absence recording & absence management, holiday booking and managing performance and capability.

This is a significant leadership role, with the opportunity to positively impact the performance of the faculty in many ways, including; student recruitment; student experience; Teaching, learning & Assessment; research income; financial sustainability; workforce development and change; and process improvement.

Required Skills:

Applications will be shortlisted against the following criteria
• Experience in management for at least 2 years
• Experience in quality improvement and developing staff especially in improving the quality and effectiveness of teaching learning and assessment
• Relevant experience and knowledge within Maths, English & ESOL
• Evidence of involvement at senior level and strategic thinking
• Experience in managing training programs to achieve results
• Qualifications at degree Hons level or above (or equivalent) appropriate to subject area
• Participated successfully in management training events
• Evidence of continual improvement within your areas of responsibility
• Involvement in one college wide initiative / project with demonstrable results
