The Exciting Role 

A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Teacher of A level Mathematics.

You will be part of a highly successful team of dedicated A level staff delivering A level Maths, Further Maths, Statistics and Core Maths to our A level students at Nelson and Colne College.

In particular, the A level programme aims:

  • To provide a highly ambitious curriculum and academic programme of study which inspires students to achieve their very best and which supports them to aim high and reach the extraordinary.
  • To ensure the provision of a high-quality academic 6th form, offering a broad range of relevant A Level subjects.
  • To support students to progress onto higher education and then onto exciting and ambitious careers.
  • To ensure a strong focus on adding value, realising aspirations and equipping students with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress onto the best universities.
  • To provide students with the widest range of experiences possible, building cultural capital; inspiring and enabling them to make a lasting and positive contribution to the wider society.

 

The successful candidate will be primarily based at Nelson campus but may be required to travel across sites.

This post could suit an experienced practitioner looking for their next challenge, a newly qualified teacher looking to make their mark within an Outstanding organisation.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Plan, deliver and assess A level Maths, Further Maths, Statistics and Core Maths to our A level learners. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic practitioner who promotes and upholds the same high expectations as the College and its’ students. With a focus on sharing good practice, they will be committed to their own continuous professional development and will engage enthusiastically with our quality processes to ensure that our students receive an Outstanding experience.
  • Support our learners academically but also in the capacity as a personal tutor.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • The successful candidate will have a real passion in teaching A Level Maths and be enthusiastic about all aspects of their teaching practice.
  • Working within a friendly and supportive team in a department that is extremely well resourced and has the most up to date and effective teaching equipment. The successful applicant will have a focus on raising aspirations and encouraging students in the realisation of their ambitions, and ensuring they have the skills necessary to either progress to Higher Education or enter employment.
  • It is envisaged that the successful candidate may be responsible for a tutorial group in addition to their academic timetable; as such, previous experience of providing pastoral care is desirable.
