About the role:

Activate Learning now have an exciting opportunity for a Science Teacher with a genuine passion for the subject to join our Academic and Professional Studies teaching team at Guildford College.

Teaching on our A Level, GCSE, and BTEC programmes, this post would suit a Science teacher looking for a new area of development or would be an ideal development opportunity for a newly qualified teacher, or science graduate looking to get into teaching.

Science is one of our key growth areas and the successful candidate will play a key role in the implementation and growth of our redesigned Science provision. With your excellent subject knowledge and practice skills you will work collaboratively with our existing team of talented and passionate teachers to ensure we plan and deliver purposeful practical and theory lessons up to level 3, and participate in the curriculum development to meet the needs of changing industry demands.

This is a permanent, part-time role, working 22.2 hours per week (0.6 FTE), based at our Guildford College campus.

What do you need to be a successful Science Teacher at Activate Learning?

We are looking for people who can act as role models for our students and ensure that they leave us with not just their professional qualifications, but the attributes required to progress in the world of work. 

Whilst previous teaching experience or qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the qualifications to teach on our science courses and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.

• Level 4 or above qualification in Physics, Chemistry or Biology is essential
• It is desirable if you have a teaching qualification and worked within education as a teacher, but this is not essential

Your communication and interpersonal skills will be outstanding and support your ability to deliver interesting and purposeful lessons to a diverse range of learners. You will also have strong organisation skills coupled with the ability to prioritise workloads and will benefit from being part of a supportive team, working in a varied and interesting role with a variety of opportunities for career development.
