Outstanding College
Barnsley College has been recognised as one of the best General Further Education (GFE) Colleges in the country. At its last Ofsted inspection, the College was awarded 20 Outstanding grades out of a possible 22, and two good grades, which was the best GFE College grade profile by a distance in the country.
Outstanding learners
Our overall learner success rate in 2012/2013 was 90% - that’s 6% higher than the National Average – and our overall Apprenticeship success rate was 95% - a huge 21% above the National Average. Our learner satisfaction surveys also consistently tell us that our learners are among the happiest in the country. The latest figures show 98% of students feel they are learning in a safe environment, 95% say our College has a positive learning culture and 96% said they would recommend the College to a friend.
Outstanding facilities
As well as being one of the best colleges in the country, Barnsley College's multi-million pound Old Mill Lane campus and new Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) centre provides students from Barnsley and beyond with state-of-the-art facilities which provides the best possible learning environment for them.
Honeywell Sports Centre is host to approximately 400 full and part-time Sport and Public Services students during the day, whilst the excellent facilities, including a 3G AstroTurf pitch, Sports Hall and gym, are open to the community on evenings and weekends.
Wigfield Farm, set in the Worsbrough Country Park area of Barnsley, is a working farm and visitors centre and a base for our Animal Care and Horticulture students.
