We believe staff are our best resource and we ensure all employees receive a full induction and continuing support as they develop in their roles. We encourage staff to update their skills and knowledge and many achieve qualifications with the support of the College.

The College enjoys an excellent reputation across the full range of courses we offer and our students regularly achieve regional and national awards. We believe everyone can benefit from learning and we are known locally and nationally as an inclusive college, offering opportunities to all. Our student and customer support is of a very high standard and we are committed to its constant improvement.

The majority of our staff are based at the Wellington Road site in Taunton. The central administration is based here, together with our teaching and learning in arts, engineering, construction, health and social care, catering, management, business and IT, and hair and beauty. The campus has been completely restructured, and in addition offers a Technology Centre, a Conference and Business Centre and Genesis, an award winning sustainability and environmental technologies training centre.

The quality of life in Taunton is rich. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery, enjoyable cultural life, easy access to Devon and Somerset coastlines, good transport links and easy access to many major conurbations including London.

Somerset College offers a generous 30 days annual leave entitlement for support staff, and 35 days annual leave entitlement for academic staff. In addition, staff also receive the 8 public holidays on top of this entitlement.
