Originally established in 1899 and moving to Sparsholt in 1914, Sparsholt College Hampshire has developed to be a leading provider of specialist land-based and general further education across two college campuses – Sparsholt College and Andover College – and of higher education at University Centre Sparsholt. Together with three wholly-owned subsidiary companies established to support the college’s educational mission “to inspire learners to recognise and achieve their full potential”, these are collectively known as ‘Sparsholt College Group’.
The overall enrolment of students in the college increased significantly in the period since 2007 through a near doubling of enrolments at Andover over the period since. Total numbers of students through all college activity is circa 6,500. Since 2007, Ofsted has repeatedly judged the quality of learning as ‘Good with many Outstanding features’ and the Ofsted grading of residential provision repeatedly Outstanding in all aspects. University Centre Sparsholt was graded TEF Gold in June 2018 and the college has been registered as a higher education provider with the Office for Students since October 2018.
Culture, Values and Wellbeing
The college leadership team actively promotes a positive and inclusive culture which values individual success and expression, while seeking collectively to achieve stretching outcomes. This extends across the College Group, with a determination to maintain shared values and a cohesive culture. The ‘election’ of the College values by our staff was a focal act in defining our culture and our leaders listen carefully to the views of students and staff in informing their actions. The needs and wellbeing of the student community are always at the heart of decision-making
The Group’s values are:
Teamwork - Valuing Others - Integrity - Innovation
Passion - Supportiveness - Excellence - Sustainability
It has been said by one of our local MPs that there is a “palpable sense of ambition within the college” and we believe this reflects a widely-owned culture of continuous improvement, where any areas of lower performance are openly identified and actions agreed to swiftly enable improvement.
We are committed to equal opportunities for all, irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, marital status, religion or sexuality.
