We are recruiting a full-time, SEND Teaching Assistant for a Special Educational Needs School and College in the heart of Wilmslow. This is a permanent role directly with the school.

Milk Education are partnered with a high-quality provision who caters to young people aged 11-19 with moderate to severe learning difficulties and additional needs such as Autism, SEMH and Physical Disabilities. Their staff work incredibly hard to nurture the students and enabling them to gain positive identify, self-esteem, independence, and control over their lives via specialist support programs. An exciting opportunity has arisen, and they are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to work directly on contract with the school.

SEND Teaching Assistant role & responsibilities:

  • Use specialist skills/training/experience to support pupils in small groups and/or on a one to one basis to enhance their learning and so progress
  • To implement agreed work programmes and support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils including the provision of detailed and specialist skills/knowledge in particular areas
  • To help create a stimulating environment which supports learning
  • Set challenging and demanding expectations to promote self-esteem and independence

Non-negotiables:

  • Previous experience within the last two years of working with young people or vulnerable adults aged 11+ in a voluntary or paid capacity that can be referenced
  • Experience of additional needs and/or disabilities
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
