Carpentry/Multi Skills Lecturer

Join Westminster Kingsway College's dynamic team as a Carpentry/Multi Skills Lecturer. We are looking for a dedicated individual to teach a variety of occupational units on all levels of Plumbing programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to level 2 in Carpentry/Multi Skills.
  • Deliver courses and provide student support and pastoral care.
  • Prepare teaching materials using Pro Monitor, MS Teams, and Google Classrooms.
  • Assess students' work and attendance, utilizing PLP system (Pro-Monitor) for progress monitoring.
  • Liaise with employers for work experience placements and assess students in the workplace.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including record-keeping, enrollment, and examination procedures.
  • Integrate English and maths into vocational teaching.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, monitoring, evaluation, and quality assurance.
  • Assist in marketing, recruiting, interviewing, and assessing students.
  • Attend College and section meetings, as well as relevant staff development events.
  • Undertake other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications/Professional Development:

  • Minimum Level 1 Trade qualification.
  • Assessor awards/Teaching qualification/AET/PTTLS, etc.
  • Experience of acting as IQA for City and Guilds electrical courses.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to relate to, communicate effectively with, and counsel students.
  • Passion and commitment for working with 16-19 year-olds.
  • Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and provide team leadership if needed.
  • High level of organizing and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work with employers and assessors in workforce development for Electrical.
  • Deliver employability skills at all levels and embed Maths and English in vocational subjects.
