Position: Lead Designated Safeguarding Practitioner

Salary: £33,952.54 - £39,212.03 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Location: Sheffield

Hours: 37 hours per week x 52 weeks per year

About the Role

Join us as a Lead Designated Safeguarding Practitioner at The Sheffield College. The Sheffield College is committed to improving career and life prospects for all students and apprentices. We believe in providing a whole-college and holistic approach to support our students and the Lead Designated Safeguarding Practitioner role is fundamental to this.

The Lead Designated Safeguarding Practitioner will be responsible for supporting our cohort of Discreet High Needs Students across the campuses, as well as providing positive, excellent line management to the Designated Safeguarding Practitioners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively support the wellbeing of students and receive safeguarding referrals for a designated cohort, leading on the response to each referral.
  • To oversee the effective implementation of safeguarding policy and procedures that underpin high-quality and effective safeguarding services across the College.
  • To ensure the effective management of the Designated Safeguarding Practitioners, ensuring training is implemented around current trending concerns and offering advice and guidance for complex cases.
  • Work on an allocated caseload of Children, Looked After cases, supporting relevant internal stakeholders to complete PEPs, ensuring they are done in a timely manner with a person-centred approach.
  • Support on the delivery of high-quality student events including whole campus safeguarding awareness events, ensuring such events are embedded as part of the cross-college tutorial scheme and enrichment calendar
Skills & Knowledge

  • Holds a recognised Safeguarding qualification or is committed to working towards.
  • Knowledge of student support in the context of the Post-16 sector. Including an understanding of the College landscape relating to management procedures and OFSTED requirements.
