Suffolk New College are currently seeking to recruit a Mini Bus Driver and Youth and Safety Ranger to join the College’s Estates & Facilities Department.  This is a multi-functional position working within the Estates and Facilities department and servicing staff and students, primarily at the Suffolk Rural campus. As the team develops it is expected for other Rangers based at Ipswich to share the driving and working at Rural and on these days you will swap to work at the Ipswich site.

You will be the main driver for the mini-bus shuttle service leaving the Ipswich campus each morning to go to the Suffolk Rural Campus at Otley and returning to Ipswich in the afternoon. The shuttle service is dual purpose transporting students, staff and deliveries, post and parcels between the campuses. In addition, you will undertake Ranger duties to support students and keep them safe at the Suffolk Rural campus.

As a Ranger you will have the ability to relate to young people, showing empathy and offering support as required. You will have the confidence to challenge inappropriate behaviour, manage difficult situations and follow College policy and process.

You will need good communication skills, with a pro-active approach and have level 2 qualifications in maths and English, along with a willingness to be undertake first aid responsibilities and a clean driving licence, ideally with D1 which enables you to drive a mini bus. For insurance purposes, to drive a mini-bus you must be a minimum of 21 years old and have held your driving licence for three years or more. For the right candidate there will be an opportunity to fast track mini-bus training and test.
