Oxfordshire Adult Learning is a large, award winning faculty of Abingdon and Witney College. We aim to maximise access to learning for adults in Oxfordshire, widening participation and transforming the health, social and economic wellbeing of individuals, families and their communities.

Our provision is diverse and includes an extensive range of leisure learning courses, community learning, family learning and accredited courses which lead to recognised qualifications. Our courses are delivered at our College campuses in Abingdon, Witney and Kidlington, as well as in community venues such as village halls and within local schools.

The Floristry courses will be taking place in Abingdon, Kidlington, Witney and Cherwell School, during the day, evenings and Saturdays. There will be more information given during the interview process.

You do not have to be a qualified teacher but must be knowledgeable and passionate about your subject area. OAL tutors relish seeing their learners gain confidence in a new discipline or rekindle the enjoyment of a past hobby.

Tutors are responsible for planning courses, delivering inspiring lessons, keeping records of their learners' progress and participating in development activities to enhance their own teaching, learning and assessment skills. The College offers tutors, new to teaching, a comprehensive staff development programme to support their journey in their role. Opportunities also exist to gain a recognised teaching qualification.

In return, Abingdon & Witney College offer excellent benefits to our employees including generous pension and holiday schemes (with potential Christmas closure days), continued professional development, flexible working options, corporate gym membership, cycle/tech scheme and much more.

Closing date: 30th April 2024 (midnight)

AWC values diversity and encourages applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to safeguarding and expect all our employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all appointments are subject to satisfactory clearances including enhanced DBS checks.

Abingdon and Witney College are committed to safer recruitment practices. In addition to our pre-employment checks, we will conduct an online search. This includes checking Google main results feed as well as the 'News' and 'Images' tab. We will be checking for any publicly available information that suggests the applicant may not be suitable to work with children or young/vulnerable people or content that could potentially damage Abingdon and Witney College's reputation. This may include inappropriate posts, comments or images displaying evidence of offensive or inappropriate behaviour, jokes or language, discriminatory comments, inappropriate photos, drug or alcohol misuse.
