Salary: Full Time £29,820 - £36,749

Hours: 37 Hours x 52 Weeks

The Sheffield College is a further and higher education institution dedicated to providing academic, vocational, and professional qualifications to approximately 13,000 young people and adults annually. We are embarking on a new and exciting delivery model for SEND young people. As a SEND Main Grade Lecturer, you will play a vital role in shaping its success!

About the Role

Join us as a MGL for SEND at The Sheffield College and support us to build on our current SEND provision. As part of the delivery team, you will be supporting on developing this tailor-made offer based at Peaks and Hillsborough Campus. Peaks Campus is being designed around the core concept of creating a nurturing space that is specially set up to cater to the needs of our young people with SEND."

Experience and passion in the relevant field are paramount, and candidates without teaching qualifications are encouraged to apply, as they will have the opportunity to undertake our comprehensive teacher training programme when joining The Sheffield College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver and assess on an enriching curriculum that fosters preparation for adulthood
  • Support in the development of an innovative curriculum designed to develop skills for independence and work
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment, to promote good progress and emotional development.
  • Develop personalised and innovative teaching materials and resources
  • Create and maintain a carefully considered physical environment within the classrooms, including displays of student work; group or independent learning areas and specialist 1:1 spaces.
  • Act as personal tutor to build effective relationships with parents and carers, sharing information regarding their young person's achievement, development and well-being.
  • Participate in open events to welcome parents and carers into the SEND department, for both current and prospective students.
Skills & Knowledge

  • Have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for breaking down barriers and ensuring positive outcomes for high-needs students
  • Have a background working in SEND and supporting young people with high needs and an EHCP
  • Be comfortable working cross-college at multiple sites (Primarily Peaks and Hillsborough Campuses)
  • Be flexible, creative and solution-focused in your approach to teaching and learning
  • Able to work as part of a dynamic team of lecturers and wider SEND support team
