Lecturer in Maths

Within the range of £26,367 to £39,876 per annum

35 hours per week (up to 24 teaching hours and 11 preparation and other duties)

We are seeking to appoint a passionate, enthusiastic and engaging Lecturer to deliver GCSE maths and/or Functional Skills Maths sessions to learners at the college.

The majority of the learners enrolled on study programmes at the college are 16-19 years old and, if any student hasn’t achieved a grade 4 in maths before they come to us, they will work towards attaining a GCSE grade 4 during their time at the college.

Additionally, we offer part time adult GCSE and functional skills maths classes. Our provision takes place across our campuses, with some evening sessions and online sessions.

You will have a passion for engaging and motivating young adults, demonstrating innovation and best teaching practice to provide an exceptional experience.  You will be able to plan and assess effectively to meet the needs of your learners to enable them to achieve their full potential.

Suffolk New College can provide relevant teacher training to those individuals who can demonstrate the potential to become effective teachers.

You should have a degree in maths or a related degree or a Level 5 qualification in teaching maths along with a teaching qualification or a commitment to obtaining one within a specified period. You should have a minimum of an A level in a Maths related subject (if you do not have the qualifications, prior teaching experience will be considered) along with a teaching qualification or a commitment to obtaining one within a specified period.

This post is based at Suffolk New College Ipswich, however Suffolk New College is a multi campus site therefore you may be required to work at and travel between campuses. This will be prearranged unless under exceptional circumstances.

At Suffolk New College, we promote the culture of BeSNC.  Implementing BeSNC is not just a choice; it's a commitment to providing the best possible environment for our learners to thrive. It's a commitment to nurturing an inclusive and supportive community where each student, staff and community member can reach their full potential.
