Construction & Built Environment Lecturer

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Up to £50,000 per annum

Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) is a welcoming and professional Further Education (FE) college in North Hampshire. BCoT has recently (Feb 2023) been recognised as a 'Good' college, with Outstanding features. The college continues to build on that grading to ensure that it becomes an Outstanding provider overall. The college is currently looking to recruit a new Construction & Built Environment Lecturer to work within the Construction Department.

The successful candidate will be primarily teaching on the Design, Surveying and Planning (DSP) -T Level, launching in September 2024. It has long been the ambition of the Department to reintroduce fulltime Higher Education back into the area. There are a number of factors which have resulted in our ambitions becoming a reality including:
  • Healthy application numbers for the T-Level
  • A close working relationship with the Education Training Foundation (ETF), who offer guidance, training and delivery resources for the successful implementation and completion of the T-Level
  • Collaboration with colleagues from other FE providers currently running the DSP T-Level
  • A working relationship with Portsmouth University, who worked with Pearson's in creating the qualification specification
  • Good links with sector employers willing to provide students with the opportunity for the required work placements
The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of Department, ensuring that all delivery elements of the qualification are in place, this relationship will continue as the qualification progresses. The college is currency delivering T-Levels in other areas including Engineering, Computing, Business and Media.

The successful candidate will need to possess the skills, drive and enthusiasm to deliver and maintain the highest standards on our qualifications. They will have a high level of knowledge and good experience of the Construction sector, preferably at least 5 years. They will need to have completed a HE qualification within a relevant construction discipline (preferably to degree level). A minimum of 2 years teaching experience within an educational environment is also preferred as is a recognised teaching qualification up to Level 4.
