Looking to leave industry and enter the world of teaching? Or would you simply like to be informed of new teaching vacancies at the College? Apply for this generic role and we will keep you posted on how you could join our future workforce.

USP College active supports and take part in the government's Taking Teaching Further scheme.

As a Further Education (FE) college, we provide education for people aged 16 and over who aren't studying for a degree. It offers a huge range of opportunities, from teaching in workshops to classroom-based learning.
You could be teaching one of a wide range of subjects (eligibility criteria apply), from law to engineering to digital, in a flexible role, meaning you can find a career that will fit around your experiences and your life.

USP College provides the opportunity and time to qualify as a teacher (Level 5). In addition, Taking Teaching Further provides for extra support and time for people with industry experience who are moving into new teaching roles in further education to support their early professional development.

The Department of Education (DfE) has extended their Targeted Retention Incentive Payments for FE Teachers (formerly Levelling Up Premium) to all FE colleges.

Eligible teachers in USP College can claim payments up to £6,000 from now until 31 March 2026, this includes new staff. USP College has met the criteria as an eligible FE provider and payments have been confirmed as between £2,500 and £6,000 per person for this year (2025/26), determined by levels of students who attract disadvantage funding. Payments will also vary depending on the number of teaching hours you do.

There are some criteria to be met, including that you must be in the first 5 years of your FE teaching career to claim; this means it must be 5 years or less since you started your first role with teaching responsibilities employed by an FE provider. You must teach on eligible FE courses, and you must spend at least half of your hours, on average, teaching eligible FE courses. Teachers must by directly employed by USP College at the point of application.

The information throughout this link Targeted retention incentive payments for FE teachers - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) should be read carefully and if you meet the eligibility criteria, you must apply by the deadline for that year.

For queries about targeted retention incentive payments, you should contact [email protected]
