Role: Lecturer - Motor Vehicle

Location: Bedford College - Brunel Road Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note - Salary and Annual Leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week - 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to join our Motor Vehicle department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

• Deliver Motor Vehicle Training - Teach and assess light vehicle maintenance and repair across various courses and qualification levels.
• Support Student Success - Guide learners through tutorials, monitor progress, and provide high-quality learning experiences tailored to individual needs.
• Develop Curriculum & Resources - Create schemes of work, implement innovative teaching materials, and contribute to new course development.
• Ensure Compliance & Quality - Maintain accurate records, meet awarding body standards, uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and participate in IQA processes.
• Engage in Promotion & Professional Growth - Take part in marketing activities, student recruitment, and proactively pursue training and development opportunities.

About you:

• Qualifications Required - Level 3 relevant qualification, GCSE English & Maths (or willingness to achieve), and commitment to gaining teaching and assessor/verifier credentials.
• Teaching & Industry Expertise - Recent experience delivering and assessing motor vehicle programmes, strong subject knowledge, and ability to apply current industry developments.
• Commitment to Equality & Safeguarding - Understanding of EDI principles, safeguarding responsibilities, and ability to maintain professional boundaries with learners.
• Skills & Attributes - Excellent organisation, interpersonal and influencing skills, ability to work to deadlines, and create a welcoming, supportive environment for students.
• Professional Values & Flexibility - Alignment with College values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty), willingness to update skills, work across sites, and engage in continuous development.
