      Foundation Tutor

The position of Foundation Tutor at Berkshire College of Agriculture entails delivering high-quality teaching and assessment in specific subject areas, aimed at providing an excellent education and training experience while promoting active student learning.

This role offers a permanent full-time academic contract working 37 hours per week and pays on the Academic Pay Scale (T1 £31,133 – T11 £44,841 at time of writing).

Additionally, the tutor will keep abreast of developments in the curriculum and syllabus that are relevant to their teaching areas.

This role involves working collaboratively within the team to devise, review, and enhance teaching and learning strategies. The tutor is also expected to support and organize extracurricular activities that are vital for students' career and personal development and contribute to outreach and liaison work within the community and external organizations. Essential duties include participating in the college’s appraisal and performance management processes, staying updated through professional development activities, establishing industry links, and attending relevant college events such as parents' evenings. The tutor will also be responsible for developing or enhancing existing courses and may undertake course coordination responsibilities as needed.

Candidates should possess essential qualifications such as a relevant degree or Level 3 Vocational Qualification, and a teaching qualification, with a willingness to work towards other certifications like TAQA/A1 and V1 awards. Experience in teaching, especially across various levels and in SEND education, is desired. The role requires skills in embedding English and Maths into the curriculum, proficiency in IT applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the ability to motivate students. Additionally, strong administrative capabilities, a flexible work approach, and effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with a range of stakeholders are important. A passion for teaching and learning, along with a commitment to the college's Diversity & Equality, risk management, health and safety, safeguarding, and data protection policies, is essential.
