About the role: We are currently seeking an Associate Lecturer in ESOL to join our Adult and Community Learning and ESOL department at The Bedford College Group
. As an Associate Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- ESOL Teaching & Learning Delivery - Plan, prepare and deliver engaging ESOL lessons for 16-18 and adult learners across campuses, employer sites or community venues, using varied teaching strategies and ILT to promote strong language development.
- Assessment, Tracking & Learner Support - Assess and mark ESOL and Digital Skills components, track progress, complete required documentation, liaise with tutors/support teams and provide tailored learner support in line with curriculum needs.
- Curriculum Knowledge & Professional Practice - Maintain strong understanding of FE context, ESOL curriculum models, assessment methods, inclusive practice, diverse learner needs and current sector developments to inform high-quality delivery.
- Quality, Administration & Collaboration - Carry out all administrative tasks accurately, participate in moderation and course reviews, reflect on teaching practice, measure effectiveness and work collaboratively with curriculum and support colleagues.
- Compliance, Inclusive Values & CPD - Uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and GDPR standards, maintain professional boundaries, engage in ongoing training and ensure continual improvement of ESOL provision.
About you: - Qualifications & ESOL Teaching Credentials - GCSE-level English and Maths (A-C / Level 2) and a recognised ESOL teaching qualification such as CELTA, Trinity TESOL or equivalent.
- ESOL Teaching Experience & Learner Understanding - Proven success teaching ESOL across multiple levels, with strong understanding of ESOL learner needs and the ability to support a wide range of cultural and educational backgrounds.
- Inclusive Practice & Communication - Demonstrable knowledge of equality and diversity, with excellent communication skills to support learners with language barriers and deliver inclusive, accessible learning.
- Interpersonal Skills & Learner Support - Empathetic, learner-centred and confident working with varied abilities, creating a supportive environment that fosters confidence, progression and positive engagement.
- Professionalism, Motivation & Achievement Focus - A self-starter who is enthusiastic, well-motivated and committed to delivering outstanding retention and achievement outcomes.
What is an Associate? Associates work on a short-term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services, and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate Agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you.
