      BSL Support Worker

      About the Role
      We are seekingBSL Support Workers to join our bank team, providing specialist support to D/deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind students. This role supports learners assessed as requiring communication support to access and fully participate in learning.
      You will work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider ALS team, while also using your own initiative to promote learner independence, confidence and academic success, in line with EHCP outcomes where applicable.
      Key Responsibilities
      • Provide communication support using preferred methods, including British Sign Language (BSL)
      • Ensure learners can access all spoken and written communication in lessons
      • Clarify and adapt language, instructions and terminology to support understanding
      • Promote engagement, motivation and independent learning
      • Support literacy, study skills, notetaking and exam access arrangements
      • Encourage and support the use of assistive technology and equipment
      • Maintain accurate daily support records and contribute to reviews
      • Liaise with tutors to prepare and adapt learning materials
      • Support behaviour management and positive learner conduct
      • Accompany students on trips and work placements where required
      About You You will have:
      • Level 3 British Sign Language qualification (essential)
      • Level 2 Learning Support qualification or equivalent experience
      • Experience supporting D/deaf or hard of hearing learners
      • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
      • A calm, patient and flexible approach
      • Commitment to equality, inclusion and safeguarding
