To perform demands of this role effectively, you must have an exceptional communication skill both in the written and verbal forms of communication. You should be able to communicate to both students and staff of the institution in a clear and concise manner. Since your responsibility will mainly be to promote learning among young students, you should be calm, patient, focused, dedicated and committed to inspiring and motivating students to actualise their set academic goals. 

You must also possess a clear evidence of a good organisational skill and an excellent time-management ability. You should be able to prioritise your work, teach students and carry out other related duties within the institutions allocated time and effectively balance your workload. 

An exceptional leadership ability and a great interpersonal skill is also a win for this position. A larger part of your responsibilities in this position will be better performed if you have an ability to work well with others as a team to actualise the academic goals of the institution. You must be able to perform your duties effectively with little or no supervision.

In addition to these desired attributes, you must also meet with some basic educational qualifications to be considered for this position. Some of these qualifications will include-

  • A degree in any relevant field from a recognised institution.
  • A basic understanding of English language.
  • Must be proficient in basic IT skills including Microsoft office suite.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years work related experience in a university or college will be an added advantage.

These requirements are considered mandatory and are advised to be met as preference will be given to applicants who meet them.

You will perform a wide range of responsibilities once you take up this role. Some of your basic responsibilities will include-

  1. Design and deliver teaching material across a range of modules or within a subject area using appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods.
  2. Contribute to the planning and implementation of course objectives and materials.
  3. Set, mark and evaluate students coursework and examinations using the institutions preferred assessment techniques.
  4. Collaborate effectively with other academic staff to identify and respond to students needs
  5. Provide and promote a healthy learning environment for the benefit of the students in the institution.
  6. Attend all staff training and staff development meetings as will be required of you.
  7. Adhere to all rules, regulations, and policies governing the institution.
  8. Perform other related duties as will be required for this position.
