Secondary School Cover Supervisor - Milton Keynes

Overview:

Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor for a dynamic secondary school located in Milton Keynes. This role offers the unique opportunity to contribute positively to the educational journey of students in the absence of their regular teachers. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, resilient, and committed to maintaining a high standard of learning and classroom management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the subject teacher, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, promoting a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Explain homework tasks and clarify instructions for students as needed.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the setting up of equipment required for lessons.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on students' progress and any issues encountered during the class.
  • Attend department meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety guidelines.
  • Support students with special educational needs, under the direction of the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a UK educational setting is essential.
  • Degree or relevant qualification preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proactive approach to resolving challenges.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo this process).

Skills:

  • Ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Proficient in maintaining discipline and focus within the classroom.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong command of the English language, both verbal and written.
