Lecturer - GCSE Maths

The School of English, Maths & Employability at Carshalton College are now seeking a Lecturer - GCSE Maths.

The focus of this role is to teach GCSE Maths and/or Level 2 Functional Skills to students aged 16-19 years of age. You will prepare students for June exams, mark homework and mock exams, provide constructive feedback, set targets for students, monitor attendance and student progress, and where appropriate, curriculum development. The expectation is that high levels of student attainment will be achieved.

We'd like our Lecturer to hold a degree or relevant professional qualifications in an appropriate subject and have excellent teaching skills in GCSE Maths and/or Functional Skills Maths. We'd like you to have energy, enthusiasm and passion for the subject and education and be able to support, motivate and empathise with learners, including monitoring their progress.

With high personal standards and expectations, you will be able to use new technologies to enhance teaching and learning and work well under pressure to agreed deadlines. We'd also like you to be receptive to new ideas and initiatives with a creative approach to problem solving and have an awareness of academic quality standards.

Please note that this post is funded for the 2024/25 academic year so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2024.

Subject to a cost of living review from 1 August, the successful candidate will be eligible for any subsequent increase in salary.
