About the role

Group Learning Support works with young people who face barriers to education, including learners with special educational needs and those with an EHCP. This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone who has previous management/leadership experience, combined with a passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students and providing the support needed in order to ensure that they can achieve their learning goals.

Responsibilities include:

  • To implement strategic, operational, local operations and improvement plans under the direction of the Regional Manager.  
  • To contribute to GLS financial stability by linking recruitment needs to funding available and making recommendations based on this.  
  • To line manage, lead, and direct the Study Mentors, LSA Team Leads and GLS Coordinator on the campus.
  • Working closely with the Group Learning Support Delivery Manager to provide outstanding support for learners, including developing and monitoring interventions as required.
  • To attend annual EHCP reviews and support meetings
  • To be accountable for the implementation, monitoring and review of support for learners with an EHCP. 

This is a full time position (working 37 hours per week) permanent contract based at Oxford college. 

What do you need to be a successful Group Learning Support Team Leader at Activate Learning?

The ideal candidate will be resilient, solutions focused and have a clear vision for the team. The ability to lead, coach and motivate staff is vital.  Strong team values, a desire to innovate within the learning experience and the ability to adapt flexibly to the changing needs of learners are essential.  You will demonstrate strong leadership skills and a person centred approach to both staff and students, experience of using teaching and learning strategies to motivate and engage learners to progress.   

You will possess a sound knowledge of SEND, safeguarding and advancing EHCP outcomes.  Excellent communication and organisation skills are required alongside the ability to role model professionalism.  To be able to demonstrate the initiative and drive that will contribute to the team’s overall effectiveness is a must.  You will also possess the ability to respond to change positively and be extremely proficient at managing your time.
