Together, we will bring out the best version of yourself.

About the role

Activate Learning has an exciting opportunity available for a passionate and creative ICT and Digital Technologies Teacher to join our teaching team based at Guildford College.

You will have a genuine passion for IT with the ability to teach the next generation of programmers and developers and make a positive impact on the lives of young people. You will be responsible for teaching IT and Digital Foundation and T-Level Digital Production, Design and Development.

The post holder will be required to have a range of abilities within ICT and Digital Technologies, including programming, GDPR and other legislation, digital environments, the fundamentals of cyber-security, and design. You will also act as a personal tutor and study programme owner, providing pastoral and academic support to our students.

You will work collaboratively with our existing team of talented and passionate teachers to ensure we plan and deliver purposeful practical and theory lessons. Our students are eager to learn, and we want to appoint someone who can provide them with a high level of knowledge and skills, that they can utilise in their careers or progression to university.

This is a permanent, full-time role (37 hours a week) starting in June 2024. This position can be based at either Guildford college or Reading college, depending on your preferred location.

What do you need to be successful as a IT & Digital Technologies Teacher at Activate Learning?

Whilst previous teaching experience and qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the qualifications  or industry experience to teach and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.

You will be responsible for providing expectational mentoring and pastoral support to our students throughout the duration of their course. You will have the ability to plan and deliver high quality and engaging lessons to a diverse group of learners and to carry out initial and on-going assessments to ensure the students are on track with their learning goals and achieving excellent results.

•    It is desirable if you have a PGCE and worked within education as a teacher, but this is not essential
•    You will have worked in the industry and are an IT specialist
•    You will have a passion for using this experience to develop the skills of the future generation.

In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
