What qualities do we look for in our Governors at Activate Learning?

From time to time, vacancies arise on the Corporation Board, which we seek to fill with high calibre individuals who can demonstrate a personal commitment to the vision and values of Activate Learning, as well as experience of senior and strategic leadership in relevant fields and sectors.

The Corporation Board operate a Carver model of governance, and therefore the ability to understand a large and complex business and operate at a highly strategic level are essential in our Governors.

As a member of the Corporation Board, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a group of highly talented and experienced individuals, to provide strategic leadership to a well-respected organisation which makes a tangible difference to the lives of many people.

Corporation meetings are held in our colleges across Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Surrey – travel to each site will be required.

What skillsets do we currently need on our Board?

We regularly assess the skills and experience of the Corporation Board, and actively seek new Governors who possess specific and relevant skills and experience, to ensure that the Board has a robust mix of expertise and can relate to our diverse community.

 At present, we are seeking Governors with knowledge, experience and/or strategic leadership experience in the following areas:

• Careers guidance
• Special Educational Needs (SEND)
• Safeguarding and/or Mental Health and Wellbeing.
