Student Community Officer

Here at South Thames Colleges Group, we are now seeking three Student Community Officers, one at Kingston College, one at South Thames College and one at Carshalton / Merton College.

Your job as Student Community Officer will be to support our Curriculum, Student Services and Security teams in the monitoring and management of student behaviour during College daytime operating hours. Providing onsite presence and an on call service during the College day, you will promote good behaviour and respond to challenging observed or reported behaviour policy infringements or incidents. You will record data on the College data recording systems and instigate processes under the College Student Disciplinary Policy and Procedures.

To be successful in this role, candidates must have experience of working with young people in a School or College setting and have an understanding of issues that may affect a students ability to attend College and comply with appropriate standards of behaviour as set out in the Group Policy. With knowledge and experience of Behaviour Management Techniques and behaviour interventions, you will have excellent listening skills and the ability to establish positive and effective relationships with young people whilst maintaining appropriate personal boundaries.

Knowledge and experience of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures is a must, as is the ability to maintain emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes.

Please note that this post is funded for the 2024/25 academic year onwards so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2024.

Subject to a cost of living review from 1 August, the successful candidate will be eligible for any subsequent increase in salary.
