Role: Supporting Year 10 & 11 (Key Stage 4)
Pay: .89 per day (PAYE)
Hours: Monday - Friday, Full-Time (Term-Time)
Start: ASAP Contract: Long-term with view to permanent placement
Located in the Chorley area, this is a highly respected Alternative Provision and PRU that provides a "fresh start" for young people who have faced barriers in mainstream education. The school is not just a place of learning; it is a community built on trauma-informed practice and the belief in the power of change.
The school specialises in re-engaging students, helping them bridge the gap between their current challenges and their next steps-whether that be college, apprenticeships, or vocational training. With a calm, structured environment and a focus on "Quality First Teaching," this setting ensures that every pupil feels valued, safe, and heard.
We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join the KS4 team. Your primary focus will be helping students in Years 10 and 11 navigate their final years of secondary education.
Emotional Literacy (ELSA): You will use ELSA techniques (or similar emotional support strategies) to help students manage anxiety, build self-esteem, and improve social skills.
Bespoke Support: Working 1:1 and in small groups to help pupils access a curriculum that combines core academic subjects with vocational project-based learning.
Therapeutic Approach: You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including behaviour mentors and a school counsellor, to provide a holistic support network.
Transition Planning: Helping students develop the independence and resilience needed for life after school.
Experience: Previous experience in a PRU, AP, or SEMH setting is essential.
Specialism: ELSA training is highly desirable, but a strong background in mental health support or youth work will be considered.
Resilience: A calm, "thick-skinned," and non-judgemental approach to behaviour that challenges.
Heart: Someone who believes in building trusted connections and "staying committed to kindness" even on difficult days.
Direct Route to Contract: For the right candidate, this role offers a clear path to a permanent school contract.
Competitive PAYE Pay: No umbrella company fees-what you earn is what you keep.
Professional Growth: Access to National College CPD and specific training in trauma-informed approaches.
Supportive Culture: Join a team that priorities staff well-being and daily briefings to ensure no one works in isolation.
