      Apply Apply

Specialised EYFS 1:1 TA role in Blackpool. Support a non-verbal child with an EHCP. Feb Half-Term start. L2/3 EYFS Qual required. Apply today!

      Location: Blackpool

Contract: Temporary (6 weeks initial, potential to extend to July 2026)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 15:30 (Term Time Only).

Start Date: Immediately following February Half-Term

      About Our School

Based in Blackpool, we are a school driven by an inclusive ethos and a deep commitment to the "Best Start in Life." As a Nurture UK setting, we prioritise the holistic development of every child. We are also a literacy-rich environment, specialising in the Read Write Inc. Phonics scheme and fostering a "reading for pleasure" culture from the very beginning of the educational journey.

      The Role

We are looking for a compassionate and qualified EYFS specialist to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a non-verbal child in our Early Years setting. This pupil has an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) in place, and your primary focus will be facilitating their access to learning and play-based activities.

The initial contract runs from the February half-term until Easter, with a high probability of extending until the end of the academic year (July 2026) based on the success of the 1:1 relationship and the impact on the child's development.

      Key Responsibilities

      • 1:1 Support: Acting as a dedicated learning partner for a non-verbal child, interpreting their needs and facilitating communication.
      • Curriculum Access: Adapting EYFS play-based learning activities to ensure they are accessible and engaging for the pupil.
      • EHCP Implementation: Working closely with the SENDCO and Class Teacher to meet the specific targets outlined in the child's EHCP.
      • Nurturing Environment: Applying the six principles of nurture to create a safe, inclusive space for the child to grow.
      • Progress Tracking: Keeping detailed records of the child's engagement and milestones to share with the nurture team and parents.

      Requirements

      • Qualification: A recognised EYFS Qualification (supporting ages 0-5) is essential (Level 2 or Level 3).
      • Experience: Proven experience supporting children with SEND, specifically those who are non-verbal or have complex communication needs.
      • Communication: Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, or visual timetables) is highly desirable.
      • Attributes: Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to building a strong 1:1 bond.
